How To Make Carpet Choices

Carpet selection is a complex process. There are many factors you need to take into consideration and many choices to weigh. Carpets come with a variety of colors, styles and textures. Cut pile and loop pile carpet are two of the most popular options. Loop pile creates small loops by pulling individual yarn strands through the backing of carpet twice. Cut pile is a pile with the loop removed at the top. This leaves tufts that are straight up.

Cut piles are usually more durable that looped piles. You can choose from many different styles of cut piles, including shag, velvet, textured and saxony. Loop pile choices include berber, cable, or sisal. Loop pile is a great choice for high-traffic areas. Cost is an important consideration when choosing a carpet. Wool carpeting can be expensive, even though it is luxurious. Wool carpeting is more affordable than other types of carpeting, and it will last longer. There are no other carpet fibers that can rival the beauty, durability, or feel of natural wool. This carpet can last for up to 30 year. Acrylic carpeting looks very much like wool and is often called man-made wool. Acrylic carpeting is resistant to water, fading, mildew and crushing but is not recommended for high-traffic areas. High traffic areas are a good choice for nylon carpeting. Nylon is a more expensive type of synthetic fiber than wool. Olefin, a low-cost carpet material, is often used indoors and outdoors. Olefin can be dyed and is very strong. It also has a low cost, easy-to-clean nature.

Olefin has the disadvantage of being easily crushed. The carpet’s color and pattern will also be important. The use of light carpeting creates a feeling of spaciousness, which makes the space appear larger. Darker colors will show more soil than light carpets. Dark colors are best for pets and children. Many dark colors are available in a variety of styles, making it easy to choose the right one for you. Because they don’t show dirt as well as carpets with lighter colors, dark colors are great for pets and stains. It will be twice as difficult to hide stains if you select light colors around children or pets. It is easier, smarter, and easier to choose a darker color.
